How to Use - ‘Screen Capture’

One of the first Features you will come across when accessing the Elate Extension is Elate’s Screen Capture, which allows you to seamlessly capture, annotate, and edit screenshots without ever leaving your browser. Once the screenshot is captured, a suite of comprehensive editing tools that allows you to easily box, circle, underline, add comments and free-hand drawings which all can be color-coded for clarity and organization.



It also allows you to capture your screen in multiple options. You can choose:

1. Part of the page: (Only includes the user selected cropped section of the page)

2. Visible part of a page (Only the visible section of the page) 

3. Full page (Includes the entire length of the page)




4. Your entire screen (includes your browser window, taskbar, or simply your entire desktop)

Editing tools:

You can control the size of the text, color of the text & text background, and letter boldness. Select from three different font styles. Change the orientation of the text box from horizontal to other orientations using the rotation indicator located above the text box.

1. Select:
This tool allows you to select and move or resize existing annotations (text, shapes, etc.) on the screenshot.

2. Text: Enables you to add text annotations to the screenshot, such as explanations, labels, or comments. You can customize font, size, color, and style.

3. Rectangle: Draw rectangular shapes on the screenshot to highlight specific areas, create boxes around text, or group elements.

4. Circle: Draw circular shapes on the screenshot to highlight specific areas, such as icons, buttons, or circular objects.

5. Line: Draw straight lines on the screenshot to connect elements, indicate directions, or emphasize relationships.

6. Arrow: Draw arrows on the screenshot to point out specific areas, indicate direction, or show a sequence of steps.

7. Pencil: Allows for freehand drawing or sketching on the screenshot to add visual emphasis, explanations, or signatures.

8. Redact (Blur): Obscure sensitive information like passwords, names, or addresses by applying a black box or a blur effect.

9. Crop: This tool allows you to trim the edges of your screenshot, removing unnecessary areas and focusing on the important parts.

 


Other Features:

  • Share URL - the “share” tool copies the link (URL) where the screenshot was saved. (The default location is MyDrive > Elate > Annotation)



  • Also, you can edit the privacy setting of your screenshot using the Elate extension (by clicking the drop down menu to make it private, accessible for Domain, or accessible for Anyone) without opening your google drive.
  • Download the screenshot directly to your computer’s drive.

  • Share/Send it via email within your organization.

  • Save: Choosing save will automatically save the screenshot in your Gdrive under “Mydrive” then “ElateScreenshots” folder.
  • Redo: Reverses the last action that was undone.
  • Undo: Reverses the last action performed on the screenshot.
  • Layers tool: easily select between overlapping objects on the screenshot.
  • Zoom Out/Zoom In: Adjust the magnification level of the screenshot for easier viewing and annotation.
