How to Create a New Shared Inbox 

Prerequisites: 

1. Elate Chrome Extension

2. A Google Workspace Account

          a. Please note, all members of a Shared Inbox should be part of the same Workspace

3. An existing Google Group (a new Google Group can be created during the inbox setup).

Steps:

1. Open the Elate Chrome Extension

2. Open the side panel

3. Navigate to settings by clicking the Company Initials Logo

          a. Then Click the gear icon located on the upper left portion of the side panel

4. Then select "Shared Inbox"

          a. This will show what Shared Inboxes you are part of based on your workspace

                    i. The first time you view this, it will be empty

5. Click the “Register” button. 

          a. This registers your email account on the shared inboxes service

                    i. You will be prompted to grant consent to oath service to complete the registration.

6. Click the “Create Inbox” button

  1. Input the following:
    1. An email address for the account 
      1. To Note, this should be the email for the Google Group backing up the inbox)
      2. The account that creates the shared inbox will be considered as the Primary Account, this means that it is a central part of the synchronization process within a Shared Inbox and should not be deleted if the Shared Inbox is in use. 
      3. This Primary Account should also have necessary Admin Workspace permissions to be able to create and modify a Google Group.
    2. Name of the Inbox (e.g. Support Team, Sales Team, Billing Department)
    3. Email Addresses of any Members you would like to add, separated by comma

7. To note, once created, the new inbox should be added in your Gmail menu and it should be available to all members of the Shared Inbox.

How to Add a Shared Inbox to a Space

  1. Click on the Newly Created Space
  2. Navigate to Features and toggle ‘Gmail Shared Inbox’ On

3. Create a New Group or Use an Existing Group

          a. To create a new Group: 

                    i. Enter a New Group Name

                    ii. Enter an Email Address

          c. To use an existing Group: 

                    i. Select an Existing Group from the dropdown menu

          d. How to Associate a Google Chat Space to a Workspace

                    i. In the Space, click the Google icon at the top right of the extension

                    ii. Select the chosen desired Space

                    iii. Click Select
