One of the most common reasons why users can’t open their Microsoft applications/files is due to outdated applications. Ensure your application is up-to-date with the latest patches and updates.
1. First, open the application (e.g. Word or the Microsoft application with issue) and go to File > Open > Browse and then find the document you need to repair.
2. Next, select the dropdown in the lower right section and select “Open and Repair” and wait for the process to complete.

3. Repair using the Control Panel:
a. To access Control Panel> use the start button or search “Control Panel from” the start menu
b. Open the control panel and click “Programs and Features”
c. Find the corrupted Microsoft application in the list.
d. Then click Repair or Uninstall.
- Repair: Right-click the application and select 'Repair'. This will attempt to fix any issues without uninstalling the program
- Uninstall and Reinstall: If repairing doesn't work, select 'Uninstall'. Then, download and reinstall the application from the official Microsoft website.
4. Another method is by using an Online Repair Tool
a. Go to the Microsoft Support website.
b. Search for a repair tool specific to the corrupted application.
c. Download and Run: Download the tool and follow the on-screen instructions to repair the application.
